After Root Canal Treatment Instructions

What to Expect After Your Root Canal
It is normal to experience mild soreness or sensitivity in the treated area for a few days following root canal treatment. This occurs as the surrounding tissues begin to heal.
Your tooth may feel slightly different when biting or chewing during the initial healing period.
These symptoms typically improve within a few days.

Managing Discomfort
Most patients can manage mild discomfort with over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, unless otherwise directed by your physician or dentist.
If medication was prescribed, please follow the instructions provided by your doctor.
Post Root Canal Treatment Tips
Eating After Treatment
Until the numbness wears off, avoid chewing on the treated side of your mouth. Once numbness has resolved: • Avoid hard foods • Avoid sticky foods • Avoid chewing directly on the treated tooth This helps protect the temporary filling and prevents fracture.
Temporary Filling
A temporary filling is placed in the tooth following root canal treatment to seal the canal system. It is important to return to your referring dentist to complete the permanent restoration, often a crown. Delaying the final restoration may place the tooth at risk of fracture.
